2011
for crohn's, colitis and life after surgery
Mission
Welcome to our site.
The mission of TriAcrossBC is to raise awareness for Crohn's, Colitis and life after surgery through triathlon and endurance racing.
Crohn's and Colitis disease afflicts over 252,000 Canadians, the highest per capita in the world. Extremely painful and in some cases, so severe, it may even cause death. Crohn's disease attacks the entire digestive system while Colitis affects the large colon and rectum.
No known cause or cure has been found. Medication is available but the side effects are unfortunately also severe in some cases.
Removing the stigma and lack of awareness is paramount, so Andrea is embarking on an endeavor of a lifetime.
In 2011, Andrea will compete in long distance races starting with the Vancouver Marathon, then heading off to Ironman Brazil in Florianopolis, Whistler Half Marathon 21.1km, Axel Merckx Gran Fondo Penticton 160km, the Ultraman Canada triathlon covering 515km in three days and finishing the year with the Gran Fondo Whistler, a 120km bike ride from downtown Vancouver to Whistler.
Andrea is no stranger to long distance endurance racing, completing 4 Ironman triathlons, Ultraman Canada relay and long distance mountain bike races. She is also no stranger to Ulcerative Colitis, diagnosed with it at the age of 20.
Help her in the quest to provide education and awareness around these diseases.
